I absolutely loved Impromptu Match! This was such a fun monster romance with strong romcom energy, and I had the best time with it. Honestly hilarious.

Taylor is a 39-year-old, painfully average office worker who’s stuck in a soul-destroying corporate job and quietly miserable in his routine. One wrong turn after work leads him straight into a secret underground monster wrestling league hidden in the basement of his office building. There, he meets Holt Hector — the charming, ridiculously attractive Empyn who owns and runs the league. Holt takes one look at Taylor and immediately becomes fascinated by his very normal, very human energy.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between them. Taylor’s dry, anxious, and slightly uptight personality paired so well with Holt’s warm, confident, and slightly chaotic monster charm. The monster wrestling world itself was hilarious and surprisingly wholesome, with a great cast of colourful side characters who already feel like found family. I can't wait to read their stories.

The humour balances really nicely with the genuine sweetness and care in Taylor and Holt’s relationship. The spice is really well-written, and fits the playful tone of the book perfectly.

I listened to the audiobook and Michael Ferraiuolo did a fantastic job with the narration. He captured Taylor’s dry sarcasm and Holt’s smooth, warm energy so well that it made the whole story even more enjoyable to experience.

Overall, this was such a fun, feel-good read with great humour. I’m already excited to continue the series!
