I loved the second book in the Unexpectedly Twisted series. His Prince is about hopelessly romantic, Angel and his perfect fairytale ending. When his father arranges his marriage to the dangerously attractive Russian mafia boss Mikhail Ivanov, Angel thinks all his dreams have come true. But reality hits hard when his charming new husband turns cold and distant after the wedding.
What makes this book stand out is Angel’s character growth. He goes from a sweet, dreamy boy to a sassy, determined man who isn’t afraid to cause absolute chaos in Mikhail’s life when he feels betrayed. His sharp comebacks and fiery spirit are so entertaining. I loved that he was bratty but distinctly different from Tatum’s version of bratty. One of my the most poignant moments for me was this:
“Where did my sweet Angel go?” he asks, his voice rough, confused.
“You murdered him. He’s dead.”
It reminded me of that Taylor Swift song “look what you made me do” when she’s says “the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why ? She’s dead ?”
It was the energy and I loved it.
Zachary Zaba does an outstanding job narrating the audiobook and I really liked it was a different narrator. When you’re listening to the series back to back, it really makes the stories more distinct and makes the characters voices more distinguishable. He was so good, beautifully bringing out Angel’s emotional range and Mikhail’s brooding presence.
There were really emotional tension filled moments. No spoilers, but yes, there were tearful moments.
This book is funny, spicy, emotional, and packed with tension. Already downloaded the next one 😊
